Private as well as public organizations depend on reliable, secure data transmission channels. However, cyber-attacks are on the rise and pose a significant threat to companies and institutions and their sensitive data.
Attackers use criminal methods such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) hijacking or DoS and DDoS attacks, which reduce the availability and performance of digital systems and services significantly.
If data transmission is not sufficiently protected, organizations will sooner or later find it difficult to protect sensitive information and ensure business continuity and operations.

As a management and technology consultancy with in-depth expertise in cyber security, Detecon was involved in this project in the areas of design, project management and orchestration and network creation as well as change management, communication and stakeholder management.
SCION - secure data transmission paths
With SCION (Scalability, Control, and Isolation on Next-Generation Networks), ETH, Swisscom and Detecon have implemented a next-generation, cross-domain Internet protocol that creates secure data transmission paths for organizations and public administrations.
Only trustworthy connections between identified parties are used, as the protocol exclusively selects predefined paths on the Internet for data traffic. SCION also enables geozoning which creates virtual spaces where data can be managed, or information flows can be controlled.
This ensures the secure exchange of confidential or even restricted data within a protected ecosystem. Organizations can create communities both internally and with partners or other stakeholders in which participants can share information without being visible to the outside world.
Originally developed at ETH Zurich, Swisscom, Anapaya and Detecon have piloted a project with Swiss embassies in Berlin and Seoul and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern and proven that SCION enables a secure, high-performance internet.
