Why did Infraserv Höchst decide to build a private 5G network?
Many companies at Industriepark Höchst are advancing the digitalization of their processes. At the same time, automation and AI are becoming increasingly important. To continue providing optimal conditions for more than 90 companies at the site, we are creating a powerful, future-ready communications infrastructure at an early stage. Infraserv Höchst is thus also laying the foundation for future innovation and the successful development of the industrial park.
What goals and use cases drive the new infrastructure?
Our vision is a fully connected industrial park. We already see potential applications in logistics, IoT, sensor technology and connected plants. Looking ahead, digital twins, autonomous transport systems and drone applications will become more important. The private 5G network provides the foundation for advancing these developments step by step together with our customers.
Which requirements were particularly important when selecting the solution?
Security, scalability and the ability to consistently separate different customer networks were decisive for us. The solution also had to integrate seamlessly into existing infrastructure and be able to grow with our customers’ requirements over the long term.
What role do data security and data sovereignty play?
These topics are a high priority for us. For many companies at the site, it is important that sensitive data remains within the industrial park. A private 5G network provides the necessary conditions and, at the same time, enables a high level of control over data and processes. This is particularly important for sensitive research and production applications.
What were the biggest implementation challenges?
Following the strategic decision to develop our own 5G infrastructure, the biggest challenge was selecting the right partner, designing the technical concept and implementing an operating model that optimally meets all requirements. This complex technology project raised various questions, and everyone involved contributed their expertise to solve them.

What value does the new infrastructure offer today and in the future?
The private 5G network is an investment in the future viability of Industriepark Höchst. It lays the foundation for further digitalization, automation and new data-driven applications. It also enhances the industrial park’s attractiveness for companies already at the site and for businesses considering locating there. We are convinced that the importance of this infrastructure will continue to grow in the coming years.
What advice would you give other industrial companies?
Companies that want to use digitalization, automation and future AI applications successfully should address the need for a powerful communications infrastructure at an early stage. A clear strategic vision and the right expertise are essential for making sustainable long-term decisions.
