Detecon Alumni today: Charlotte zu Knyphausen

From when to when did you work at Detecon? What was your position?

From 2011 to 2017 I worked as Legal Counsel at Detecon. In this function I provided internal advice to colleagues on all legal issues apart from labor and tax law - this naturally included many national and international contract negotiations in which we accompanied the partners and the purchasing department.

What were the most exciting Detecon moments for you?

Exciting was the move to Cologne in 2012 and how New Work changed the company back then - I'm drawing a positive balance. I found it exciting to experience how we shaped this change process, what resistance there was and how we all stayed in contact with each other. The latter was ultimately the key to success.
Then, of course, there were some very exciting negotiations, which I cannot mention for reasons of secrecy, but which I still like to think about.
The internal trainings that we lawyers developed and conducted for the partners provided me with special flow moments.
Another highlight was the leadership program, in which I was able to participate and learn a lot.

What company do you work for today? What is your primary field of work there?

Today I am self-employed as a mediator, conflict and negotiation coach. I mainly coach and train women to negotiate more successfully and to represent themselves well - for more success, satisfaction and the ability to act. In the shegetsit - method, which I developed myself, I combine my experience as a lawyer with leadership, communication and negotiation skills. I have also developed an online program for this purpose - perhaps Detecon's digitalization imprint will come through here ;-)?

What did you value especially highly while at Detecon, and what do you miss from the “old days”?

I miss the collegial, appreciative and open cooperation. At Detecon we were very customer-oriented and at the same time internally we were very keen on a good culture. I was able to work with my personality and together we were in a continuous, meaningful improvement process. This is one reason why I still maintain contact with many colleagues today and appreciate it very much.

What three hashtags would you use to describe Detecon?
