From when to when did you work at Detecon? What was your position?
I joined Detecon in February 2018 after a learning sabbatical on Machine, Reinforcement Learning, and Natural Language Processing. As a Managing Consultant with many years of finance expertise, I worked in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation team and cross-functional midmarket support until July 2020. Detecon gave me another digitalization kick in many areas.
What were the most exciting Detecon moments for you?
In addition to the very inspiring 2018 kickoff "Beyond Consulting", which I was able to attend in advance, the conversations and exchanges with customers interested in digitalization from many different industries and with deep insights into the telecommunications industry were inspiring. I also enjoyed the brainstorming sessions with colleagues and the preparation of tender documents for challenging customer projects. I also recall very interesting know-how exchange formats such as Knowledge Nuggets, the AI/Data Centricity team or internal training courses, especially because the topics were initially not directly in my area of responsibility, such as my certification on TOGAF (Enterprise Architecture Management).
What company do you work for today? What is your primary field of work there?
In August 2020, we founded a startup: "APS Networks", headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, with international colleagues and locations in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands and a worldwide customer base.
We develop secure programmable switching solutions - made in Europe. Our focus is on the development of security-critical switches and, as initial sponsor of Network Grade Linux, on open source networking software for the major telecommunication companies, broadcast/media, cybersecurity and public authorities. Application areas include the interfaces of wired and wireless networks or 5G edge use cases. We receive support from our customers and from Intel.
As managing partner, I am responsible for finance and operations.
What did you value especially highly while at Detecon, and what do you miss from the “old days”?
The readiness and willingness to listen, the appreciative interaction and atmosphere among colleagues and the flat hierarchies. Adding to this, the promptly available, very competent support of all consultants and the service colleagues, globally. There has always been someone at Detecon who has dealt with similar issues. And if not, you could always find someone with whom you could quickly develop a topic in an expertise-oriented manner.
