Wholesale empowerment is a logical trend. The variety of partnerships driven by the new technologies and the need to split the investment will lead to 5G network sharing, or even to wholesale-only 5G network providers, with the other players behaving like MVNOs.
In fixed, the voluntary access opening (“network slicing”) will reduce the regulation risk, however this needs to be played smartly and strategically by the service providers. KYC (“Know Your Customer”, i.e. segmentation info in telecom) is a must-have as it is getting the required info in order to make the decision of giving away less profitable customers in a given area, but not enabling the competition to a full convergent play in the same time.
