Growth Through Telecommunications

Widespread telecommunications networks function as a motor for the competitiveness of a country and advance its state of technological development. But investors cannot be enticed until deregulated markets have been created. Detecon International advises government institutions and ministries during the privatization of state-owned operators. For example, it is necessary that the telecommunications company is incorporated under private law in order to limit the influence exercised by the state. In addition, investment law must be drawn up so that the transfer of profits to other countries is regulated.

Our experts work for authorities and ministries to prepare sector reforms, ICT and international privatization statutes and laws, regulatory specifications and instruments, and the terms and conditions for the granting of licenses, among other activities. While doing so, we make sure that technological changes driven by convergence are consistently incorporated into current laws. The preparation of obligatory charges for universal services – such as telephone access in rural areas – and the financial funds which may be required for such purposes are typical implementation measures which we can also prepare.
