Modern IT production platforms should exhibit a high degree of automation and standardization so that they realize meaningful cost effects. As standardization progresses, the focus will be on lean processes, infrastructures, and applications and, to a large degree, a turning away from the manufacture of handmade services. The primary aim of automation is to roll out a service which, as far as possible, does not require any manual intervention from beginning to end.

Innovative technologies will become the factor opening the door to new use cases and business opportunities.
